5k Personal Best – SPEED!

5k PB – SPEED! Change “I can’t” into “I can” and pretty soon you will say, “I did”. I have never been a runner but as you may have realized, I’m big into HIIT and weight training. Lately I have gotten a bee in my bonnet to become FASTER at running. I only log about 5-20 running miles per month as I have other forms of cardio I prefer but even so, I was able to shave off over 4 mins on my 5k (3.1 mile) time! 23:38 is a personal best! This was a hilly run 1.5-5 incline. That’s the power of HIIT, Tabata, and cross-training for you! I never thought I would run it that fast without traditional race training, which I find boring. Tabata and HIIT workouts really work the fast twitch muscles and made that speed and endurance happen for me. Zoom Zoom!
