This week’s J’s Fit Hits is now up (link in bio). Getting (and staying) fit takes dedication, motivation, and support. I get a lot of questions about how I stay fit and motivated, so I started “J’s Fit Hits” to share a few of my favorite resources, products, and tips with you each week. These are things that I personally do (or use) that I find really help me stay on track with my fitness goals. Each week, I will give us a little challenge – a single lifestyle change that we will focus on for the week and aim to incorporate into our lifestyle on a permanent basis. By slowly building up a set of healthy habits, we enable ourselves to stay in shape without feeling overwhelmed by the effort. Those habits build up and before you know it, you’ve got fitness as a lifestyle!

Killer Body Shred Tabata is the 18th workout in the Lean Body Series and it's another doozy! This is full-on intense with 3/4 of the workout being different Burpee variations! Don't worry, you can do it - one round is only 16 minutes! I was still a bit sick during this one and I did it, and so can you! All levels can do this, just go at your own max pace and get as many reps in as you can in the allotted interval. Notice I say

Killer Body Shred Tabata: Lean Body Series Workout #18

Killer Body Shred Tabata is the 18th workout in the Lean Body Series and it’s another doozy! This is full-on intense with 3/4 of the workout being different Burpee variations! Don’t worry, you can do it – one round is only 16 minutes! I was still a bit sick during this one and I did it, and so can you! All levels can do this, just go at your own max pace and get as many reps in as you can in the allotted interval. Notice I say “your own MAX pace”. Tabata is scientifically proven to be a massive calorie burn and excellent cardiovascular conditioning in a short amount of time, and you will see results if you are consistent with it. However, Tabata is not truly Tabata unless you are going FULL out for those 20 seconds and giving yourself a full rest during those 10 seconds. So be sure to challenge yourself (while being smart and listening to your body). The workouts in the Lean Body Series are for EVERYbody – men and women of all ages and fitness levels. No matter who you are, this series will get you shredded and breaking through plateaus!

Lifted Booty Daisy Duke Workout is the 11th workout in my Body Sculpt Strength Series and it is an awesome leg and booty sculpt. This routine works every angle of your buttocks for a tight lifted booty, while also sculpting gorgeous defined legs. No excuses – get creative and use what you have on hand! 😉 Okay, this week’s J’s Fit Hit’s is now up, along with a new Fitness As A Lifestyle Challenge. Getting (and staying) fit takes dedication, motivation, and support. Fat Torcher Tabata is the 17th workout in the Lean Body Series and it’s a CRAZY calorie burn with a high after-burn effect! This is fun intense bodyweight training! You don't need any equipment, except for a hard chair or bench to do the chair knee tuck ab-work. Or, you can modify on the ground by doing leg raises instead. We will be doing 4 rounds of Tabata, with the first round being kickboxing moves, the second round being all Burpees, the third round being full body plank cardio, and the fourth round will be abs & upper body. This is a super fun one! All levels can do this, just go at your own max pace and get as many reps in as you can in the allotted interval. Take breaks as you need them.

Fat Torcher Tabata is the 17th workout in the Lean Body Series and it’s a CRAZY calorie burn with a high after-burn effect! This is fun intense bodyweight training! You don’t need any equipment, except for a hard chair or bench to do the chair knee tuck ab-work. Or, you can modify on the ground by doing leg raises instead. Move of the Week: Front Kick Back Kick. This is a great move to sculpt powerful legs and burn calories! It's also a really effective way to work important core muscles - hello abs! Speed it up for a great cardio calorie burn. Pay special attention to the re-chamber. Really pull that leg back in. You will be working your muscles differently and you will get even more out of the exercise.

Technique:

1) From a split stance with right foot forward and arms on guard, shift weight into left leg and bring right leg into a chamber (bending right knee up toward chest). 2) Quickly extend leg, exhaling forcefully through mouth while kicking out from hip and leaning torso back slightly, pushing out through ball of foot. 
3) Return leg to chamber and down.

4) Immediately lift left foot back into chamber (bending left knee behind you with foot near buttocks). 5) Kick back out through the heel (arms remain on guard the entire time). 6) Return leg to chamber and down.

Do 15 quick reps; repeat on the opposite side for a total of 3 sets, or do it as a round of Tabata (4 mins of 20/10 intervals) going at your maximum intensity.

Move of the Week: Front Kick Back Kick. This is a great move to sculpt powerful legs and burn calories! It’s also a really effective way to work important core muscles – hello abs! MOVE OF THE WEEK: Plyo Squat Jacks! This is a full-body exercise that requires no equipment and primarily works the legs and midsection -- specifically, the gluteus maximus, hamstrings, abdominals, quadriceps and calves. By adding a weight and an overhead press, you also engage the core and the upper body more. This exercise builds explosive power, aids athletic performance, and builds muscle while also burning fat. Quadruple duty baby!

Technique:

1) Lower into a squat and bring your arms in front of you, with both hands holding a single 10 lb weight (10 lbs or less - don’t go above 10 lbs on these).
2) Jump your feet together as you raise the weight over your head.
3) ‘Jack’ your feet out and return to a squat, as you lower the weight in front of you. Move as quickly as you can while keeping good form. Do 20 seconds of max reps with a 10 second rest in between, a total of 8 times (for one 4-minute Tabata round). Or do 3 sets of 20 reps as fast as you can.

Tip: When in a squat, be sure to keep your knees behind your toes and your hips behind you as if you were about to sit on a chair. Land softly when you come out of your jump into your squat.
